Sponsors and supporters

The ideas inspired by Future vision, and the budding talents behind them, attract a lot of interest from some big names in the sustainability, regeneration and design sectors.

"Sponsoring the Future Vision awards for two consecutive years has enabled us to tap into young talent, support the students to develop genuinely new and exciting ideas and showcase their emerging skills. Their ideas on how best to deliver sustainable development do help inspire those working on the regeneration of the Thames Gateway area. We are proud to sponsor these awards and work with the students to help turn their vision into reality."
Stephen Stringer, Thames Gateway
"Creating sustainable communities takes great vision and creativity, and young people can play a vital role in the drive to improve places. That’s why we need to spotlight creative talent and nurture young people’s passion about the environment, the economy and their local communities to channel their energies into campaigning for, designing and building better communities."
Wayne Hemingway, Hemingway Design
"We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to support the work of the Academy for Sustainable Communities by supporting this award. Stephen’s idea was fantastic and he was a very deserved winner. We are looking forward to his time with us."
Caroline Gitsham, Gentoo Living

Read on and you'll also find out what some of our previous entrants have to say about the experience.

"Entering the competition has certainly changed my outlook on Landscape Architecture and the Design world. I now hope to explore a more design based career and, with this placement on my CV, I think that can only help! I fully recommend entering this competition to all students as it’s very easy and doesn’t involve any work on top of your studies."
Giles Hopgood, ‘Future Space’ winner, 2008
"Found out about winning the award at a very difficult time for me and at that very moment it gave me something to focus on and look forward to. Attending the awards ceremony and meeting all the other winners was a great experience. They were all really nice and both my guest and myself had a great time. After winning the award I have received attention from my university (Coventry University) and was even invited for a meeting with the Dean of Faculty, who wanted to know more about my idea. The competition has encouraged me that my ideas might actually be marketable and have a future. It has also revealed possible career paths to me that I might have not even thought about before. I would encourage students of all degrees to participate and give it a try because the competition is about being original."
Kate Frankova, ‘Future Streets’ winner, 2008
"Entering this scheme has really helped kick start my career in sustainable communities. Not only do I have the kudos of winning such a prestigious accolade but I’ve patented my idea, I am working with ASC to consider the possibility of implementing my virtual landscapes into real communities and, as a direct result of the exposure I’ve received since winning the award, I’ve secured a permanent job with a landscape architectural practice - Soltys Brewster Consulting."
Gethin Owens, overall winner and Future Building winner, 2007
"I have to say that being a first year student, I was a little bit sceptical about my chance of winning the awards scheme. My idea not only came out as a winning entry for Future Vision, but also got a lot of attention from various groups and organizations who’s focus is on sustainability. After the awards ceremony I got a call and I was asked to travel to Italy to talk about my idea and listen to similar projects that will take place in Universities in the USA. What can I say about the month placement experience? It has been a month and a half already and my placement is carrying on for an undefined period of time. They are a great Landscape Architecture practice in London, it is so much fun... I honestly wish that this kind of experience could be extended to other students arround the globe!!"
Paco Rodríguez Álvarez, Future Vision 2008 winner
