Revive
the Docks - brings the community together by creating a series of
floating docks that extend the existing landscape to make room for
markets, gardens, homes, green space and even a beach.
Reflecting the history of the site, Revive the Docks adds character and fun to an area that was once a hive of activity, creating fantastic places for residents, visitors and wildlife.
As well as overall winner, Regine was awarded the top prize in the Future Work category that singles out innovation about improving the way communities work or are run.
Part of her prize is a four-week work placement with the Thames Gateway - a supporter of last year's scheme, Future Vision 07.
All about Regine
Where did you get your inspiration from?
I was on the DLR to visit Thames Barrier Park when I got
interested in the landscape surrounding Pontoon Dock Station. The
lack of infrastructure and derelict industrial docklands made me curious.
Public open spaces that create a strong sense of place are my main interest. The introduction of alternative ways of living would enhance the docklands with a quirky charm that is currently lacking and create a unique environment for the community and visitors.
